Brush Engine/ Quick Response added to fleet.

The past 24 months, the Sauvie Island Fire District has planned to add and additional Brush Engine/Quick Response unit to the island response. The first of the year the Fire District was able to find and purchase a vehicle that exceeds it is our desired capabilities expressed by our research committee. On June 24, the District placed that vehicle in-service to respond on the East side of the island. This is a 2007 Ford F550, type 6 Brush Engine / Quick Response unit and is capable of responding to car wrecks with extrication equipment, EMS medical alarms and to wildland fires. One of the key features the research committee wanted was a 4 wheel drive, four-door unit to support the number of volunteers responding out of the east side of the island. This unit, designated as “Brush 33”, will greatly enhance or emergency response to our community. The engine was purchased “used” from another fire department for $55,000, adding a second brush engine to serve Sauvie Island. Attached are photos of the members placing this engine into service.
